Alongside quicker charging, the iPhone 15 series will highlight the inclusion of a USB-C charging port.

Apple has relied on its proprietary Lightning charging standard for just over a decade. While it was impressive initially, this standard has become outdated, with criticisms directed at its specifications. 

In contrast, USB-C has gained prominence in recent years, becoming the preferred choice for various devices like smartphones, tablets, and laptops. 

Even Apple's own products such as the iPad and Mac have adopted the USB-C port, leaving the iPhone as the major device still utilizing Lightning. 

The shift to USB-C in the new iPhones promises improved charging speeds over time. Although starting at 35W is a positive step, certain Android devices can achieve charging rates as high as 240W.

 Although it's unlikely Apple will reach such speeds, the presence of USB-C offers more options.

Earlier reports suggest that charging and data transfer rates might vary based on the iPhone model. 

Previous reports indicated that while all iPhone 15 models would feature USB-C, only the Pro variants would enjoy enhanced speeds.

 Confirmation will require waiting for now. If rumors are accurate, the unveiling of the iPhone is expected in early September.
